40th Anniversary Party

40th_GRACE_1920x692.jpg

Riverbend Church is turning 40, and we’d like you to celebrate with us!

AUGUST 25, 2019: Immediately following our 9:45 & 11:15AM services

History.png

In July of 1979, a trail-blazing Pastor and a handful of courageous families had a vision to start a church like no other: a community where anyone — from aspiring saint to cynical skeptic — is welcome to come experience the grace that God has to offer.

40 years later, that vision hasn’t changed, and we think that’s something worth celebrating.

Arts.png

Join us August 25 after our 9:45 and 11:15AM services for our 40th Anniversary party. We’ll bring the food, fun, and memories. All you need to bring is you ... and maybe a friend!

Want to win some Riverbend swag?

Participate in our Selfie Scavenger Hunt if you want to experience everything we have to offer at our 40th Anniversary Celebration! You can find instructions and clues for the scavenger hunt on the Riverbend App or by downloading the guide.

Movie: “Run the Race”

Meet: Quad 4. Food served @ 12:30PM

In this movie, two desperate brothers sacrifice today for a better tomorrow. Reeling from his mother’s death and his father’s abandonment, Zach, an all-state athlete finds glory on the football field, working to earn a college scholarship and the brother’s ticket out of town. When a devastating injury puts Zach, and his dreams, on the sidelines, David laces up his track cleats to salvage their future and point Zach toward hope. “Run the Race” shows what’s possible when you run to---and not from---the overwhelming love of God.

Museum Day

JUL 7 | 12:15PM

Meet: Front of the Quads
Cost: The only cost involved will be lunch on your own

We will meet in front of the Quads and car pool to the Bob Bullock Museum. Then we will eat lunch (lunch not provided) and visit a number of displays.

The World War I exhibit presents the stories of a divisive and transformational America told through original artifacts, images, voices, music, hands-on-exploration, and multimedia presentations. Throughout the exhibit, visitors encounter “Witnesses”, people who represent the complex and divergent stories of the day. The exhibit takes us from the days prior to the War, during the War, and post-War problems and successes.

We will also see the exhibit, Becoming Texas: Where the Story Begins. This one-of-a-kind journey goes through more than 16,000 years of Texas history where they have documented the rise and fall of nations up to the Mexican Independence in 1821. You will have a chance to see the men and women who established trade networks across the Americans, see how tough it was to put food on the table,  and discover LaSalle’s failed attempt to establish a colony in the Gulf Coast in 1684.

We will also see how the rebuilding of the expedition’s 300-year-old ship, La Belle, is progressing. You will see thousands of items of cargo found in the hull.

We will also see the Lusher Collection: Collections from Private Collections in Texas. You will see a selection of 27 artifacts reflecting the confluence of Spanish, American Indian, and Anglo cultures that have inhabited the border region in the last 400 years.

Thanksgiving-NDC_1920x1692.jpg

NOV 10 | 5:30PM | 7000 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78752

Give thanks this year by serving one of our mission partners, East Austin Neighborhood Development Center (EANDC).

We're looking for volunteers to serve along side our Community Groups on NOV 10, 5:30PM for the Thanksgiving Feast at our Proyecto Esperanza Neighborhood Development Center (NDC). This is a great opportunity for anyone to jump in and serve an amazing community at home here in Austin.

Pradeep Thorat has been busy making connections and training more than 200 people in English classes. He has invited us to participate with him by helping him host a Thanksgiving dinner for all the families who have gone through the program.

This is a time to serve people who usually do all the serving, and it is a time to share the reason why we come together to give thanks.

There will be around 250 people learning from us what our Thanksgiving celebration is all about. Please consider joining in to serve good food, eat good food, and make new friends with those who are wanting to practice their English.

For more info, email: ndc@riverbend.com
