CARING FOR THE HOMELESS

Through Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF), we’re helping to prepare and bring meals to the homeless and indigent around Austin.

Through MLF, Riverbenders like you prepare and bring meals to the homeless and indigent five nights a week to different parts of Austin, feeding an average of 150 homeless and impoverished people per night. If you’re looking for an easy way to explore missions and outreach, Mobile Loaves & Fishes provides lots of great opportunities to serve.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Served ~40,000 meals

  • Filled nearly 1,300 volunteer slots

  • Fed an average of 150 people per night

Community First! Village

CARING FOR THE HOMELESS

Through the Community First! Village (CFV), we’re helping to provide affordable housing and community for the homeless around Austin.

The Community First! Village provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for individuals coming out of chronic homelessness. This transformative residential program exists to love and serve our neighbors who have been living on the streets, while also empowering the surrounding community into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Started three new groups that foster community and develop friendships

  • Created opportunities for CFV residents to serve others thru Mobile Loaves & Fishes runs

Angels Afoot

Caring for children

Through Angels Afoot programs, we’re caring for disadvantaged children all around the greater Austin area.

We’re continually looking for ways to help disadvantaged children, where not only individuals, but whole families at Riverbend can participate in the opportunity to do so. We accomplish this through our Backpack & School Supplies Drive, our Christmas Toy Drive, and our Christmas Toy Stores.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Supplied over 600 backpacks filled with school supplies

  • Gave over 3,000 Christmas presents

  • Purchased over 1,200 gifts for our Toy Stores

Here are some of our serving opportunities:

  • Donate school supplies/ purchase backpacksfor Austin area children in need

  • Purchase Christmas presents to bless Austin area children in need

  • Help sort, wrap and deliver Christmas presents

  • Volunteer at one of the many Austin Toy Stores during the Christmas season

  • Sunday morning item collections for school supplies and Christmas presents

Austin Disaster Relief Network

HELPING OUR Neighbors

Through our partnership with ADRN, we’re helping to provide disaster relief in times of emergencies around Austin.

ADRN coordinates with churches across central Texas to provide disaster relief in times of emergencies (fires, floods, and other natural disasters). Dozens of Riverbenders have been trained at different levels for disaster response, and ADRN uses our facilities for trainings on a regular basis.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Trained dozens of new volunteers at different levels of preparedness

  • Hosted ADRN’s national three-day conference using Riverbend’s facilities

Are you ready to help your neighbors repair and rebuild with ADRN?

Here are some of our serving opportunities:

  • Attend one of our many training or certification classes

  • Clean up homes

  • Shepherd a family

Hopefully Sow

EMPOWERING FOSTER TEENS

Through Hopefully Sow, we’re working to sow seeds of love, joy and aspiration for children in foster care in the Austin area.

Hopefully Sow is a non-profit that was birthed out of Riverbend, with a Board of Directors made up of primarily Riverbend members with a passion for helping foster teens. They come alongside different foster homes in the area, such as The Settlement Home and Austin Children’s Services.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Took 75 kids in the foster-care system school shopping

  • Stuffed over 100 stockings to give to kids for Christmas

Be Lydia

PREVENTING SEX TRAFFICKING

Through Be Lydia, we’re helping to raise awareness about the reality of human sex trafficking in Austin.

This non-profit founded by Riverbender Terri Ingraham, has some passionate women working together to help expand awareness across the Austin community of human sex trafficking. They hold conferences and meetings throughout the year with Austin area organizations to both educate as well as spread awareness.

In the last year, Riverbenders like you:

  • Partnered with Be Lydia to spread awareness through a number of events — some that were hosted at Riverbend

Are you ready to educate people about sex trafficking with Be Lydia?

Here are some of our serving opportunities:

  • Help with a Lunch & Learn Event on MAY 8

  • Help with the Annual Gala on NOV 14

  • Host a Home Awareness Prevention Coffee in your home for friends and neighbors

  • Attend a monthly event, listed on belydia.org
