Movie: “Breakthrough”

OCT 3 | 12:30PM | Quad 4

12:30PM — Food served
1:00PM — Movie

There’s never any doubt that things will work out just fine in “Breakthrough”, and not only because Roxann Dawson’s movie is based on a true story. It’s also because of the film’s overtly Christian approach, which leans strongly toward the evangelical side of its discussion of faith and religion.

The story focuses on Joyce Smith (Chrissy Metz), a true believer. Grant Nieporte’s screenplay is based on the real Smith’s 2017 book (written with Ginger Kolbaba) The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, and yes, that title is more than a bit of a spoiler. Then again, the very idea that the story was written in the first place is a spoiler.

Cost: $3 (Includes a movie, popcorn, chili dogs, and a drink)

40th Anniversary Party

40th_GRACE_1920x692.jpg

Riverbend Church is turning 40, and we’d like you to celebrate with us!

AUGUST 25, 2019: Immediately following our 9:45 & 11:15AM services

History.png

In July of 1979, a trail-blazing Pastor and a handful of courageous families had a vision to start a church like no other: a community where anyone — from aspiring saint to cynical skeptic — is welcome to come experience the grace that God has to offer.

40 years later, that vision hasn’t changed, and we think that’s something worth celebrating.

Arts.png

Join us August 25 after our 9:45 and 11:15AM services for our 40th Anniversary party. We’ll bring the food, fun, and memories. All you need to bring is you ... and maybe a friend!

Want to win some Riverbend swag?

Participate in our Selfie Scavenger Hunt if you want to experience everything we have to offer at our 40th Anniversary Celebration! You can find instructions and clues for the scavenger hunt on the Riverbend App or by downloading the guide.

Summer-Book-Club_1920x692.jpg

JUN 15–AUG 3 | 10:00AM–12:00PM | Community Center #203

Our new Summer Book Club will be a different take on a deeper Bible study as we discuss Margaret Feinberg's, "Wonderstruck". Beginning Saturday morning, JUN 15 from 10:00AM–12:00PM, we will have the opportunity to drink in and experience the fullness of the life God intended. We realize that summer's are demanding so this study is designed to be casual and light.

There is no homework other than reading the book and regular attendance is not required. Come when you can and let's share a Saturday morning together. We will meet in the Community Center #203 (formerly Plaza View Room) on eight consecutive Saturday mornings this summer beginning JUN 15 and ending on AUG 3.

This club is free to join, however, you will need tp purchase your own book (available on Amazon) since the church will not be purchasing books.

For more info, contact Susan Kennedy.

SOLD OUT! — A Place for You at the Table

MAY 14 | 6:30–8:30PM | Community Center

You have the opportunity to be heard and to make a difference: you have a place at the table.

It doesn’t matter what your age is, what stage of life you’re in, or if you’ve ever participated in a Women’s Ministry event before — we want to invite you to spend a special evening with us.

We’ll enjoy a meal together, spend time laughing and connecting with one another, and have an opportunity to hear from a panel of women about their faith experiences at Riverbend. Diane Haney, our Women’s Ministry Pastor, will share a message of encouragement, inspiration, and her vision for the Women’s Ministry at Riverbend.

This is a unique opportunity for you to have your voice heard as we begin to explore new possibilities and experiences for all women at Riverbend Church. We invite you to join us at the table.

This event is free to attend, but we encourage a donation of any amount to help us cover the cost of dinner.

Thanksgiving-NDC_1920x1692.jpg

NOV 10 | 5:30PM | 7000 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78752

Give thanks this year by serving one of our mission partners, East Austin Neighborhood Development Center (EANDC).

We're looking for volunteers to serve along side our Community Groups on NOV 10, 5:30PM for the Thanksgiving Feast at our Proyecto Esperanza Neighborhood Development Center (NDC). This is a great opportunity for anyone to jump in and serve an amazing community at home here in Austin.

Pradeep Thorat has been busy making connections and training more than 200 people in English classes. He has invited us to participate with him by helping him host a Thanksgiving dinner for all the families who have gone through the program.

This is a time to serve people who usually do all the serving, and it is a time to share the reason why we come together to give thanks.

There will be around 250 people learning from us what our Thanksgiving celebration is all about. Please consider joining in to serve good food, eat good food, and make new friends with those who are wanting to practice their English.
