About The Lighthouse
What is The Lighthouse?
The Lighthouse is a free weekly program offering social connection, meaningful activities, and entertainment for individuals experiencing memory loss, while providing caregivers with a much needed break.
What does a typical day look like?
Each week features a unique theme with engaging activities and opportunities to connect. Guests enjoy a morning snack and a complimentary lunch.
Who can participate?
The Lighthouse welcomes individuals experiencing early to mid-stage memory loss. They must have independence when using restroom, eating, and walking (may use a cane or walker), be able to communicate with volunteers, and not prone to habitual wandering.
How do you ensure a safe and engaging environment?
For safety and meaningful engagement, we maintain a 1:1 ratio of guests to specially trained, background-checked volunteers.
When and where does The Lighthouse meet?
We meet on Tuesdays at 10AM at our location off North Capital of Texas Highway in Austin.
Are there opportunities for children and older adults to connect?
Yes! Throughout the school year, we offer intergenerational programming in partnership with Riverbend Christian School on our campus.
How can I participate or volunteer?
