Local and global missions

What is “missions” at Riverbend

At Riverbend Church, we make every effort to be a blessing to the community and world around us. One of the ways we can be a blessing is through missions. At Riverbend Church, missions is defined as serving anyone outside of the walls of our church. This can be as easy as volunteering to make sandwiches for our Homeless Outreach ministry, or as in-depth as taking a short-term trip to El Salvador.

Local serving opportunities

One of the goals for missions at Riverbend Church is to demonstrate God’s love by embracing, engaging, and empowering those in need throughout Austin. We work with communities all over Austin, and many of these opportunities are great for people of all ages, including children.

We work with Mobile Loaves & Fishes to provide food and clothing for the homeless and poor throughout Austin.

Global serving opportunities

El Salvador

We partner with Iglesia Bautista Siloe Church (Siloe for short) in San Salvador, El Salvador. It supports and operates a Christian school for almost 300 preschool to 9th grade students in the impoverished Santa Lucia colonia. Siloe provides an education, one hot meal per day and after school care. Because the neighborhood it serves is a relatively poor area where there is little financial support for the school and church, we are committed to assisting Siloe in becoming self-sustaining spiritually, economically and socially.
