School Year Program

Riverbend Christian School offers a school year Mother's Day Out and Preschool program for children ages 6 months through 5 years.  Our 2011-2012 school year runs Tuesday, September 6, 2011 through Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Our 2012-2013 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.  A school year calendar will be available soon.  Our school hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  During the 2011-2012 school year, RBCS began an extended day program until 2:30 p.m. for certain age groups.  Similar programs are expected to be implemented for the 2012-2013 school year as well.

Mother's Day Out 

Mother's Day Out is for children ages 6 months through 2 years (those children who will not turn 3 years old until March 1st or later).  All classes are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Children in the Mother's Day Out program will be introduced to the following skills:  verbal and language, gross and fine motor, and socialization.  These skills will be developed through interaction with teachers and other children.  The teacher will provide a warm, loving environment in which the child may play, explore, and develop a good self-esteem.  The teachers will also help in the transition from home to school.  A daily note will be sent home with a record of the child's mood, diapering, and classroom activities.

Age Groups for the 2012-2013 School Year

6-11 months - September 1, 2011 - February 28, 2012
There are 6 babies per class with 2 co-teachers.  A child under 6 months old on September 1st may start in the class during the school year once they reach 6 months of age, provided there is space available.     

12-17 months - March 1, 2011 - August 31, 2011
There are 8 children in each classroom with 2 co-teachers.     

18-23 months - September 1, 2010 - February 28, 2011
There are 8-10 children in each classroom with 2 co-teachers.     

2 years - March 1, 2010 - August 31, 2010
There are 10 children in each classroom with a lead teacher and an aide.

The 6-11 month & 12-17 month classes will have a nap time during the school day.

Tuition & Fees

There are two fees associated with enrolling in our program for the 2012-2013 school year:
1.  There is a non-refundable registration/supply fee of $175 per child, due at the time of registration.
2.  May Tuition is collected up front, called the May Deposit.  We require a 30-day written notice of withdrawal and this deposit will be applied to tuition to satisfy the 30-day period.  If your child completes the school year, the deposit will be applied to the May 2013 tuition.  The deposit is refundable/applied to tuition through March 1, 2013.  If your child withdraws after March 1, the deposit is not refunded and cannot be applied to outstanding tuition.

There are no fees to be on the waiting list.  Pick up is promptly at 1:30 p.m.  Late charges may apply for children not picked up by 1:30 or for tuition not paid within the 5-day grace period.

2012-2013 Tuition Schedule
Starting in September, tuition is due on the first of each month.  The rates below are for payments made by cash, check or money order (payable to RBCS or Riverbend Christian School).

This is just an example.  Actual class schedules vary by age and teacher.

Parents are responsible for providing a nutritious snack and lunch each day.  Only children in our 6-11 month class will be allowed bottles and jarred baby food.  Children in our 12-17 month class and older should bring finger foods and spill-proof cups.  Due to allergies and for the safety of the children in our program, Riverbend Christian School reserves the right to limit or ban any food on a class-by-class basis.  Riverbend Christian School does not serve any foods considered to be a choking hazard.  If your child has an allergy that requires an EpiPen, please see the school office to complete a Food Allergy Action Plan.

Preschool

Preschool classes are provided for children ages 2 1/2 through 5 years.  Several schedules are available, based on the child's age.

Individual and group learning opportunties are proviced daily through developmentally appropriate active learning experiences which foster higher thinking and build confidence and self esteem.  Each child is porivded opportunities for personal growth through group involvement, creative activities, problem solving, self-control and acceptance of responsibility.  Our degreed teachers incorporate The Creative Curriculum put out by Teaching Strategies and Developmentally Appropriate Practices when planning their units of study.  The 3, 4 & 5 year olds additionally utilize the Handwriting Without Tears pre-writing and letter recognition curriculum which has been adopted by EISD.  Each school day the children participate in either Creative Movement, Spanish instruction or Music classes.  Outdoor play is also scheduled daily.  The curriculum is rich in literacy and phonetic awareness, process art, science, math and discovery, fine and gross motor activities and social interactions.  Chapel, consisting of a Bible story and singing is offered weekly as well as Story Time with our school librarian.  During independent activity or center time, children choose from the following learning activities:  homeliving (dramatic play and cooking activities), block (building and transportation), book (quiet area for individual use), art (various art mediums/easel), discovery (science), manipulative games (eye-hand coordination & fine motor skills) and music.  Chapel, consisting of a Bible story and singing, is held once a week.  A weekly note will be sent home to notify parents of classroom activities.

Age Groups for the 2012-2013 School Year

2 1/2 years - September 1, 2009 - February 28, 2010
Class options are Mon/Wed/Fri or Tues/Thurs.
There are 10 children per classroom with a lead teacher and a teacher's aide.

3 years - September 1, 2008 - August 31, 2009
Class options are Mon/Wed/Fri, Tues/Thurs/Fri, Tues/Thurs and Mon-Fri.
There are 10-12 children per classroom with a lead teacher and a teacher's aide.

Pre-K/4 years - September 1, 2007 - August 31, 2008
Class options are Mon/Wed/Fri, Mon-Thurs and Mon-Fri.
There are 12-16 children per classroom with a lead teacher and a teacher's aide.

Kinder Bridge - 5 years on or before September 1, 2012
Our Kinder Bridge class is Monday through Friday.
There are 16 children with a lead teacher and a teacher's aide.
Our Kinder Bridge class has been designed specifically for children who are five and have already completed a traditional Pre-K program.  This class will include more activities that build confidence, encourage independence, enhance socialization, and strengthen academic success.  Children not yet 5 years on September 1, 2012 may be considered for the Kinder Bridge class, only if space allows.

The 3 year M-F & TThF classes as well as all Pre-K classes are only available to children who are fully potty-trained. To be considered completely potty trained, your child needs to be able to recognize and communicate when they need to use the bathrooms, be able to manipulate their clothing, be able to get on and off the potty themselves and be able to wipe without help from an adult.  Please help your child practice these skills in preparation for entering these classes.  RBCS does not allow pull-ups in any age group.
