Health Policy Update
Due to a recent report of a communicable disease (Pertussis) at the center, we are revising our policy for accepting children who are ill or who may have been ill at RBCS. If your child was diagnosed with a communicable disease or other serious health condition, you will be required to submit a Doctor's note for your child to return to school. This offers protection for the child who has been ill as well as the other children enrolled and the teachers on staff at the center. Children who are seen by a physician for symptoms of a common cold, allergies or other viruses will need to follow our regular school policy:
A child with the following signs and/or symptoms within the past 24 hours should not be brought to school:
- Unexplained rash
- Constant coughing or wheezing
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Purulent eye drainage
- Fever - armpit temperature of above 100
- Symptoms of a communicable disease (head lice, chicken pox, ring worm, strep throat, abdominal pain, headache, pink eye, etc.)
Children must be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
The Travis County Health Department issued a directive concerning pertussis:
- A doctor will only test for pertussis if he has a suspicion that the patient may have it (dry persistent cough, runny nose, runny eyes, low grade fever and/or exposure to a positive pertussis virus)
- If a child is tested, they should NOT return to school unless...
The child has received 5 doses of the prescribed antibiotic OR they have negative lab results
AND they must present a doctor's note stating the diagnosis and the return date.

Church Staff Parking Lot
Please be respectful not to use the church staff parking lot. This small lot is located nearest 360 by the church administrative offices and is clearly labeled for staff parking. It is not intended for "5-minute parking" for preschool drop off or pick up, so please utilize the main parking lot. We appreciate your cooperation.
Love and Logic
The Love and Logic Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!™ course explores effective skills to help parents raise respectful, responsible kids while lowering the stress of parenting. This course focuses on children from birth through age six. This course will once again be offered on the Riverbend campus on Thursdays, from February 23 through March 29, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Check out the Love and Logic Flyer or go directly to www.highfiveparenting.com to register.
Spring Extended Day Option
Our fall extended day class was a great success, so we are expanding the opportunity to POTTY TRAINED 2 and 2 1/2 year olds for the spring semester. Check out the Spring Extended Day Info & Form for details and enrollment form. Extended Day allows parents to pick up at 2:30 instead of the regular 1:30 pick up. Spring Session 1 has begun and classes have been finalized. We are still accepting enrollment for Spring Session 2, which will begin after Spring Break.
Registration for the 2012-2013 School Year
Registration for the 2012-2013 school year was held on Tuesday, January 31 for currently enrolled children and their siblings. If you failed to register and would like your child to return for Fall 2012, be sure yto turn in your registration form with the $175 registration/supply fee by Wednesday, February 8. 2012-2013 Health & Emergency Forms
We are required to collect new health and emergency forms for the new school year, even if your child currently has forms on file. If your child's immunization record is on file and meets the Texas State Minimum Vaccine Requirements, you will not have to submit a new vaccine record. However, you will need to provide a new signed health statement and a new notarized medical authorization. Some additional forms will be provided to you to fill out at the start of the school year, but you can get a head start on completing your child's paperwork by completing these two forms now:

Camp Riverbend
We have finalized our Camp Riverbend schedule. Please refer to our Camp Riverbend Brochure or check our Camp Riverbend Page for more information. Currently enrolled families will register March 26-29.
Credit Card Payments
RBCS is now accepting Visa, Mastercard and Discover. You can make a one-time payment or set a up recurring charge for your monthly tuition. A convenience fee will be added to all credit card transactions. Please refer to the Credit Card Fee Schedule and the Credit Card Authorization. Please see Alicia if you are interested in this service.
Tax Receipts
If you would like a statement of all tuition payments made during 2011, please contact Alicia. Riverbend Christian School, Inc.'s Tax ID number is 74-2811584. All donors who participated in our Route 66 fundraising campaign have already been sent a tax receipt, but if you have misplaced yours and need a new one, Alicia can assist you.
Bad Weather Policy
Please be aware that Riverbend Christian School will follow the Eanes ISD school closings. If Eanes is closed or if Eanes opens later than their regular start time, RBCS will be closed. Please watch your local news announcements for information about closings during incliment weather.

The 2011-2012 Family Directory is now ready for distribution. You can pick up a copy at the school office or request a PDF version by e-mailing Alicia Hudson. This directory is intended for use by RBCS parents only. It is not intended for business use or for financial gain.
Route 66 Fundraising Update
During Phase I of our Route 66 fundraiser, we had an overall profit of $20,039.39. This includes profit of our Route 66 Raffle and donations received through our Route 66 Write-the-Check Campaign.
We are really close to reaching our overall Route 66 fundraising goal. 46% of our RBCS families have participated in the Write-the-Check Campaign, so we can easily obtain our goal with additional support. Riverbend Christian School, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Thank you so much for your generous support!
Our volunteer chairmen are already planning a fantastic Family Pit Party scheduled for Thursday, May 10 to celebrate our Route 66 fundraising victory. Staci Gray will be performing and we will have a family picnic and many fun activities for your children. More details to come soon!

Playground Use
Due to our licensing with the TX Dept. of Family and Protective Services, only children attending classes are permitted to be on our playgrounds during school hours, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Parents, you are allowed to use our outdoor play areas as well as the new indoor playscape in the Student & Children's Center outside of school hours. Thank you for your understanding.

There are openings available in some age groups for the 2011-2012 school year. We appreciate your recommendation to your friends and neighbors. Any openings will be offered first come, first serve. Click here for a list of available classes and information about enrollment.
Substitutes: Remember that most of our teachers have children of their own who occasionally get sick and we often need substitutes. Substitute pay is $10.00 per hour. If you sub on a day that your child is not enrolled, there is no charge for that day. However, we will not be able to accommodate children not enrolled in our program. You will be notified to sub either the night before or by 7:30 a.m. on the day that you are needed. All subs are subject to a criminal history background check and will need to fill out a W-9 form. If you already know you would like to be on our sub list, please contact Alicia and provide her with the days you are available to sub and the phone number you would like to be contacted at.
May 2012 Deposit: Those enrolled have paid one month's tuition, which will apply to May 2012 Tuition. We require a 30-day written notice of withdrawal and this deposit is used to satisfy the withdrawal period before any refund is given. Registration fees are not refundable.
