Local and global missions
What is “missions” at Riverbend
At Riverbend Church, we make every effort to be a blessing to the community and world around us. One of the ways we can be a blessing is through missions. At Riverbend Church, missions is defined as serving anyone outside of the walls of our church. This can be as easy as volunteering to make sandwiches for our Homeless Outreach ministry, or as in-depth as taking a short-term trip to El Salvador.

Local serving opportunities
One of the goals for missions at Riverbend Church is to demonstrate God’s love by embracing, engaging, and empowering those in need throughout Austin. We work with communities all over Austin, and many of these opportunities are great for people of all ages, including children.
MLF HOMELESS OUTREACH
We work with Mobile Loaves & Fishes to provide food and clothing for the homeless and poor throughout Austin.

A Night of Celebration & Fundraising
OCT 26 @ 6:30PM | Fellowship Hall
Help us raise $50,000+ to expand the efforts at our South Austin Neighborhood Development Center as we provide groceries, food, care and encouragement for over 5,000 hurting people per month and growing.
Join us for a BBQ dinner, and come prepared to celebrate all that God has done through this ministry this past year, and to make a financial donation to help us reach or exceed our $50,000 target for the evening.
Free dinner, but please RSVP by clicking on the link below. If you would like to make a donation but cannot attend the dinner, please click on the same link.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
We assist local communities by building and renovating houses. This is a great opportunity for anyone age 16 and older.
We have opportunities for individuals to train with the Austin Disaster Relief Network to qualify as first-response volunteers.
Due to the generosity of some individuals from Riverbend and from NACC a home for women has been recently purchased.
SCHOOLS AND CHILDREN
Each year we find different ways to bless local schools, and honor the committed efforts of their staff, faculty, students, and families.
Global serving opportunities
We partner with Iglesia Bautista Siloe Church (Siloe for short) in San Salvador, El Salvador. It supports and operates a Christian school for almost 300 preschool to 9th grade students in the impoverished Santa Lucia colonia. Siloe provides an education, one hot meal per day and after school care. Because the neighborhood it serves is a relatively poor area where there is little financial support for the school and church, we are committed to assisting Siloe in becoming self-sustaining spiritually, economically and socially.
