Truth At Work : Bringing Christ into the Marketplace

MAY 18 | 8:00AM-12:00PM | Location TBD

What Can I Expect?

Learn and be inspired to build and lead your organization based on proven biblical principles and practices. Grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. Help to transform the marketplace for Christ. Be part of a Riverbend Round Table (up to 12 executives), who become a peer review board for you to discuss critical faith and business issues and decisions in a safe place. Set and accomplish personal, business, and spiritual goals each month with built-in accountability with your peers. Fulfill God’s calling upon your life at work and at home.

What Is Expected Of Me?

Participate monthly in a four-hour Round Table meeting each month at Riverbend, with the same facilitator and participants (Dates & Times still to be determined) Engage in limited reading, reflection, and personal exercises and goal setting each month, prior to each monthly meeting. Confidentiality between members of the Round Table – what is said during the meetings stays at the meetings.  Trust is paramount for the members of the group to have a safe place to process, and confidentiality is key to building that trust.

Leading By Example

The Truth at Work Round Table is a place for executives in positions of influence and authority (who have budget as well as personnel responsibilities), from CEO’s, to Business Owners, to Department Heads, to gather together monthly and engage with content designed to equip them to live out their faith in the workplace, and to lead their organizations at a higher level.  Roger Leick, your facilitator, will lead, coach, and mentor the group, helping each member to translate their faith into practical application as Christians, as Business Leaders, as Leaders and as Influencers.

Roger Leick, Facilitator

  • Former Senior Exec at ExxonMobil
  • Over 40 of business experience
  • Currently co-operates a small custom furniture business
  • Taught Sunday School for 30 years
  • A Riverbender

Truth@Work is a 25-year-old national movement of Christian business leaders who meet together monthly in small groups.  At these monthly roundtables, we study relevant content on a wide variety of business, leadership, and personal development topics that are critical for today’s Christian in business.

Men's Core Study
7:00 AM07:00

Men's Core Study

MEN:  We get you have a lot on your plate: work, family, community . . . lots of commitments.  We are men. We get it!

What gets squeezed out so often is the opportunity to transcend all the busyness and challenges of life to get to and stay focused on what matters the most.

  • You can break through the isolation all the busyness and challenges create.
  • You don’t have to figure things out on your own.
  • There is something you can do about it.

This CORE study helps address the most central questions in life, “Who am I?” and “What am I made for?”  It’s designed to explore these questions together with other men, and to wrestle with it together, as you seek what God has to say.

At Riverbend we have 12 different Men’s Groups to choose from, that meet at different days, times, and locations across Austin in order for you to select the one that best suits your schedule.

Cost: $15

2018 Men's Summit
to Apr 29

2018 Men's Summit

The Men’s Summit is for YOU!  It is a weekend built for guys to unplug from their daily responsibilities in order to connect with God and other men.  When you take the time to do this you will find that God really does show up!

Join us for the weekend at Highland Lakes Camp & Conference Center.

"'This is not one more thing to “do.” This is a time to “be.” To be with other men. To be encouraged and refreshed. To be blessed. I hope you will join other men and come to our 2018 Men’s Summit. I promise you an opportunity to find “more.'" - PASTOR HANEY

What are the expressions of genuine character according to God’s design, and when will we know that we have them?

Dying to Live: Romans 12:1-2
To recognize who we are by God’s design, first of all, takes an awareness that we hold a fake ID to begin with. The first step in realizing our identity in Christ is to understand that we belong to Him and no one else.

What’s On Your Mind: Romans 12:2
After we come to terms with what it takes to even begin to know who we are, we follow that up with an exercise for transformation. Our identity is shaped by what are told about ourselves by others as well as ourselves.

The Great REveAL  Romans 12:3-8
In light of who God has made you to be, with a personality and skill set, how does the real you jive with who you want to be, and the you everyone else hopes you are.  The real will be revealed.

Love God. Love People.  Romans 12:9-10
If we are to be identified as followers of Jesus by the way we love in this world , it is necessary for us to be about doing it. To love is not only the supreme command given to us by God, but it is essential to our purpose for being made in His image.

Inside God's Design Classes

Inside God's Design Classes

Riverbend offers a series of three classes, designed to give you a Biblical understanding of how God has designed us to be in relationship with Him, and how He desires us to live our lives. We encourage you to consider attending the following classes.

APR 15 @ 12:30PM
Plaza View Room

This class will help you begin to understand the unique gifts that God gives to each Christian, and how you are to use them to help Him build His church and how to serve here at Riverbend.

APR 16 @ 6:30PM
Plaza View Room

In this class we will explore the basis of our faith—who was Jesus, and what does it really mean to have a relationship with Him?  What does that mean for how we live our lives differently than perhaps we do today?

APR 22 @ 12:30PM
Plaza View Room

In this class we will give you a Biblical overview of how God challenges us to give back to him a portion of what He has given to us. How to live our lives for Him as a form of worship.

Ash Wednesday Service
7:00 AM07:00

Ash Wednesday Service

FEB 14  |  7AM or 12PM  |  Chapel

You are invited to join us for an Ash Wednesday Service in the Chapel.  We will offer two times for you to come: 7:00AM or 12:00PM.

Ash Wednesday begins the season of sacrifice in the Christian calendar called Lent.  Christians for centuries have practiced Lent as a way to prepare their hearts for Christ’s death and resurrection.

Come and engage the Easter story in a meaningful way by worshipping together in this season of sacrifice. Consider fasting for either breakfast or lunch and join us for a time of reflection and worship. On Ash Wednesday, we recognize our own season of wandering from God, where we feel distant and aloof, and it is an opportunity to see God’s desire to draw us back into his embrace.

New Men's Study
7:00 AM07:00

New Men's Study

Join us, beginning the week of JAN 15, for a new study by Tony Evans

Comfortable Christianity often means a weak Christianity. In this study on John’s three letters, Dr. Tony Evans challenges Christians who have grown comfortable and complacent in their faith. Fellowship with God is the essence of our faith, and Tony walks through 1, 2 & 3 John to paint a picture of love, obedience, and truth. In a world that hates Jesus, we are called to love Him and His people with a fierce love.

Registration $15

Angels Afoot Christmas Gift Drive
to Nov 30

Angels Afoot Christmas Gift Drive

Each November the members and friends of Riverbend purchase gifts for thousands of underserved children located throughout the greater Austin area and beyond.  These kids are in foster care, shelters, and other very difficult situations. Together we make Christmas a little better over 2,500 children across Austin including the Rundberg and Travis Heights areas, as well as 300 children in El Salvador!  This year we are children adding East Austin and  children in Vidor, Texas to our mission.

During NOV we work to assign, sort and deliver gifts.

Here is how it works:

  • Select a a tag (or several) before or after the worship service.
  • Select a gift from the suggestions on the label, or an age-appropriate gift.  Gifts should be new, not used.
  • Gifts should cost no more than $35-40, so that all children, some of whom may be in a group setting, will receive gifts of the same approximate value.  If you feel more generous, please take additional gifts instead.
  • Follow the instructions - some gifts are wrapped and others are not.
  • Return your gift(s) to the Home for Hope by noon Sunday, NOV 26.

All of the gifts go to support the children and families who are served by partner agencies. Riverbend does not fulfill individual requests for donations through this drive.

Through financial contributions and additional tags we are going to be able to provide small gifts for kids in Rundberg as well as school uniforms, books, and food for the 250 kids we serve in El Salvador
