MARBLE FALLS WALKWAY OF LIGHTS

Featuring over two million lights, the Walkway of Lights located in Marble Falls, Texas, is a season-long holiday extravaganza. Walk the lighted pathway along beautiful Lake Marble Falls featuring holiday-themed, whimsical and patriotic light features and sculptures.

JOHNSON CITY TEXAS LIGHTS SPECTACULAR

Johnson City, Texas comes vibrantly alive during this event which includes a collection of fun activities for the young and not-so-young. The hallmark of this event is the opening night (Friday after Thanksgiving) lighting of the Blanco County Courthouse in Johnson City with 100,000+ white lights to celebrate the holiday season (don't worry, no nails or screws are used to secure the lights on this beautiful Courthouse building.) The entire Courthouse is draped in lights, from the ground to the special effects lighting of the dome in a red color. Surrounding trees are lit with complementary red lights, producing a magnificent spectacle.

Even the inside of the Courthouse is decorated with a traditional Christmas tree and lots of hallway greenery and decorations. Nearby, the local Pedernales Electric Co-op headquarters won't be outdone. An entire block of magnificent old oak trees strung with 1+ million white lights covering the entire canopy of each tree plus white trunks, along with the stately two story PEC building, are simply brilliant

The small but quaint downtown Johnson City Memorial Park (about a half block area on Main Street) is stuffed with the most colorful lighted trees, figures, and presentations that are eye-catching in their own right, as they sparkle in a variety of decorative and vibrant colors. Almost every business building and many homes participate in the lighting adventure.

A little about Emily:

With songs as soulful as they are winsome, broody as they are bluesy, “Certain Kinda” – the debut album of Emily Gimble (The Gimbles, Asleep at the Wheel, Marshall Ford Band, Warren Hood and the Goods) – is a study in musical range, instrumental craft, and long, deep relationships.

The three-time “Best Keyboards” Winner of the Austin Music Awards (2012-2014) and the granddaughter of one of the most legendary fiddle players who ever lived – Johnny Gimble – Emily foregrounds instead her unmistakable voice here, coaxing it into jazz and blues, vacillating between whispers and bellows. The song “East of Kerns” seduces the listener into a blacktop road trip, letting us gaze out the window with a heart full of longing and a head full of memories. “With One Eye” finds Emily defiant and truth- telling, belting out proclamations to a frustrating lover before giving way to percussive, sultry vocals. “Canyons of Gold” is an arms-stretched-wide embrace of growing up, with a touch of gospel vocals for good measure. Title track “Certain Kinda” is soft and thoughtful by turns, assurances to a companion undercut by notes of ambivalence. “It’s a wonder that we ever made it,” Emily sings, but this album – cut, mixed, and mastered with the likes of Jimmie Vaughan in just less than a year - is just the opposite.

LIVING LIFE OFF THE HOOK
Guiding Men Through the Wilderness

The spiritual world is like the Alaskan wilderness.  It will eat your lunch on the count of one if you don’t have a guide.

Brent Henderson talks about living the life God designed you for, a free life full of adventure, warfare, and passion.  You’ll learn to navigate through the fog and mist that keeps safe, religious men at home.  Brent’s message of Living Life off the Hook will guide you through the wilderness and help equip you to face the harsh realities of the unseen with overwhelming force!

The Men’s Summit if for YOU!!!  It is a weekend built for guys to unplug from their daily responsibilities in order to connect with God and other men.  When you take the time to do this you will find that God really does show up!

Join us for the weekend at T Bar M Ranch in New Braunfels.

"'This is not one more thing to “do.” This is a time to “be.” To be with other men. To be encouraged and refreshed. To be blessed. I hope you will join other men and come to our 2017 Men’s Summit. I promise you an opportunity to find “more.'" - PASTOR HANEY

CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE FOR CHILDREN

Each November the members and friends of Riverbend purchase gifts for thousands of disadvantaged children located throughout the greater Austin area.  These kids are in foster care, shelters, and other very difficult situations. Together we make Christmas a little better over 2,500 children across Austin including the Rundberg and Travis Heights areas, as well as 300 children in El Salvador!

Last week to drop off your gifts!

Volunteers needed to help for our last Sunday, NOV 27:
• Collecting Tags • Sorting & delivering gifts

Here is how it works:

  • Select a a tag (or several) before or after the worship service.
  • Select a gift from the suggestions on the label, or an age-appropriate gift.  Gifts should be new, not used.
  • Gifts should cost no more than $30-35, so that all children, some of whom may be in a group setting, will receive gifts of the same approximate value.  If you feel more generous, please take additional gifts instead.
  • Follow the instructions - some gifts are wrapped and others are not.
  • Return your gift(s) to the Home for Hope by noon Sunday, November 27 , 2016.

All of the gifts go to support the children and families who are served by partner agencies. Riverbend does not fulfill individual requests for donations through this drive.

Through financial contributions and additional tags we are going to be able to provide small gifts for kids in Rundberg as well as school uniforms, books, and food for the 250 kids we serve in El Salvador

It’s been said that nobody gets out of this world alive. And while we all know that’s true, planning for the end of our lives is something none of us really want to think about. But it’s important to make plans to pass on not only our valuables, but also our values.

beLydia is a movement to unleash the power of Christian women.

Lydia, a worshipper of God, was chronicled in the Bible two thousand years ago as an entrepreneur at a time when women were truly second class citizens.  After hearing Paul preach the Gospel, she responded and demonstrated her faith by practicing the art of hospitality.

Gathering together for the glory of God while working and blessing others, the beLydia movement is a modern day woman’s response to the Gospel.

Activities Include:

We’ll have two different trucks going out after church around 12:00PM to serve food and clothing to the homeless around the city.  You can volunteer to make 200 – 300 sandwiches beforehand (10:00AM), or to go out on the truck runs themselves.

We’ll have a truck parked in the parking lot near the Fellowship Hall entrance, and you can drop off used furniture and furnishings that will be donated to the Austin Disaster Relief Network’s (ADRN) warehouse.  They use these items to help people who’ve lost homes due to floods, fires, and other disasters.

List of items needed:

  • Furniture: Couches, recliners, big easy chairs, coffee tables, end tables, bookshelves, bed frames, headboards and footboards, kitchen tables, chairs, benches, outdoor furniture, chest of drawers, floor lamps, table lamps, framed art, home decor.  We can only take mattresses that are in near perfect condition.

  • Household Kitchen: Pots and pans and kitchenware, complete sets of dishes, complete sets of silverware, small appliances in good condition like toasters, can openers, bread makers, food processors, blenders, juicers, microwaves, toaster ovens.

  • Travis Heights Food Pantry Event

We have been working with a growing, dynamic body of faith in South Austin that is in the process of securing a permanent location for their church and food pantry.  The details and needs for this new site are being worked out, and we will have new information soon.  We would love for you to participate and expect to do some clean up in and around the building, possibly some painting or very light construction/renovation.  This ministry is exciting, fun and is providing resources to underserved working families in South Austin.  God is blessing our efforts, so join us for a fun day to bless the efforts of our new partner church.  Once we know specific needs, we’ll let you know what you can bring/provide.
