Want a chance to experience what mission work is about without leaving the country? Our 3rd annual MSMA is designed to give middle schoolers the chance to foster a heart for missions and the needs of the less fortunate through serving with our existing Austin ministry partners. Students will serve during the day and come back to Riverbend at night to debrief, worship, and spend the night.

$1500 (includes airfare, ground transportation, all meals and housing)

Use your education and training to serve God, Riverbend and our brothers and sisters in El Salvador. Join our team for an amazing week providing for medical and dental needs of those who need it the most. Most needed skills: doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and any medical paraprofessionals. We also would love to have support staff of non-medical folks to help check in and weigh patients, distribute medication, do crafts with kids and adults waiting, etc. Speaking Spanish is a huge bonus but is not required. This is tough work but fun and extremely fulfilling.

A little about John:

John Pointer a.k.a. “Squinty Phil”, grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, got a degree in Cello Performance and Composition from UT Austin and has been a full time musician based there ever since.

He created and led the pioneering a cappella & body percussion ensemble Schrödinger’s Cat, and was the beatboxer in the Chili’s Baby Back Ribs commercials. He’s a pretty ridiculous guitarist. He played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar and Roger in RENT, has commercially released 9 albums with several different groups, and the Mayor and City Council of Austin declared January 27th 2005 “John Pointer Day”. What?! Yes… evidently they do that down there.

John is an 11-time Austin Music Award Winner, world-touring indie artist, and founder of both Patronism.com and the Live Music Capital Foundation. The first is a pay-what-you-feel subscription platform to connect artists and patrons directly, for the benefit of both. The second is a nonprofit which connects major patronage directly to the venues we all know and love, so they can pay artists better and focus on selling quality, not just alcohol. It’s an easy way to put capital directly into Live Music in the Live Music Capital.

Ash Wednesday Service

AshWednesday_685x185.jpg

MAR 1  |  7AM or 12PM or 6PM  |  Chapel

You are invited to join us MAR 1 for an Ash Wednesday Service in the Chapel.  We will offer three times for you to come: 7am, 12pm or 6pm.

Ash Wednesday begins the season of sacrifice in the Christian calendar called Lent.  Christians for centuries have practiced Lent as a way to prepare their hearts for Christ’s death and resurrection.

Come and engage the Easter story in a meaningful way by worshipping together in this season of sacrifice. Consider fasting for either breakfast, lunch or dinner and join us for a time of reflection and worship. On Ash Wednesday, we recognize our own season of wandering from God, where we feel distant and aloof, and it is an opportunity to see God’s desire to draw us back into his embrace.

LIVING LIFE OFF THE HOOK
Guiding Men Through the Wilderness

The spiritual world is like the Alaskan wilderness.  It will eat your lunch on the count of one if you don’t have a guide.

Brent Henderson talks about living the life God designed you for, a free life full of adventure, warfare, and passion.  You’ll learn to navigate through the fog and mist that keeps safe, religious men at home.  Brent’s message of Living Life off the Hook will guide you through the wilderness and help equip you to face the harsh realities of the unseen with overwhelming force!

The Men’s Summit if for YOU!!!  It is a weekend built for guys to unplug from their daily responsibilities in order to connect with God and other men.  When you take the time to do this you will find that God really does show up!

Join us for the weekend at T Bar M Ranch in New Braunfels.

"'This is not one more thing to “do.” This is a time to “be.” To be with other men. To be encouraged and refreshed. To be blessed. I hope you will join other men and come to our 2017 Men’s Summit. I promise you an opportunity to find “more.'" - PASTOR HANEY

CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE FOR CHILDREN

Each November the members and friends of Riverbend purchase gifts for thousands of disadvantaged children located throughout the greater Austin area.  These kids are in foster care, shelters, and other very difficult situations. Together we make Christmas a little better over 2,500 children across Austin including the Rundberg and Travis Heights areas, as well as 300 children in El Salvador!

Last week to drop off your gifts!

Volunteers needed to help for our last Sunday, NOV 27:
• Collecting Tags • Sorting & delivering gifts

Here is how it works:

  • Select a a tag (or several) before or after the worship service.
  • Select a gift from the suggestions on the label, or an age-appropriate gift.  Gifts should be new, not used.
  • Gifts should cost no more than $30-35, so that all children, some of whom may be in a group setting, will receive gifts of the same approximate value.  If you feel more generous, please take additional gifts instead.
  • Follow the instructions - some gifts are wrapped and others are not.
  • Return your gift(s) to the Home for Hope by noon Sunday, November 27 , 2016.

All of the gifts go to support the children and families who are served by partner agencies. Riverbend does not fulfill individual requests for donations through this drive.

Through financial contributions and additional tags we are going to be able to provide small gifts for kids in Rundberg as well as school uniforms, books, and food for the 250 kids we serve in El Salvador
