A HUGE DAY!!

Friday, our last day in El Salvador as we leave for the airport first thing in the morning.  What a day!  We arrived at the Soccer Field in the La Linea colonia about 9:30, to find that the Siloe Church members had been up since 4:30 in the morning, building the stage and setting all the sound equipment, cutting up and cooking over 600 pieces of chicken, rice, salad, and juice, and lugging it by hand the 10 minute walk to the soccer field.  Women had been grilling the chicken for... The CHURCH and the GANGMEMBERS

The women on our team held their second day of the conference today, with about 40 women in attendance, plus another 20 or so 6th graders who came in to watch the initial video.  The women this day were quick to open up and share the difficulties they are facing.  One woman recently lost her daughter when her husband, a gangmember shot her 13 times.  Now she must care for her grandchildren who were left behind.  The women's ministry at Siloe Church, started last fall as a... Amazing Grace!

Today was one of those days when you just bask in the glory of God, knowing full well that it is He who is working through our time in El Salvador, as there's no way we could plan or even expect to see, hear, and witness so much of God at work in extraordinary ways.  Think about this: - Women arriving hours early for the conference in anticipation of a wonderful day.  Having them watching Mama Maggie on video, a modern day Mother Teresa in Cairo, speaking to them, dubbed in Spanish... A really big prep day!

Today's big plans were to prepare for the major events taking place the next two days.  On Wednesday morning we launch the first of two women's conferences,  Our women spent time organizing the craft projects, shopping to decorate the room, purchasing food for a home cooked Italian meal (a real treat for the women who will be coming), and making sure we're good to go.  They connected with their Friendship Tuesday friends by Skype to touch base and continue to gain prayer support.... Day One - PHEW!!!

We all arrived safely to San Salvador today - all eleven of us.  And what an amazing day it was.  We arrived at Siloe (the name of the church and school) today about 3:00.  After touching base with familiar friends and praying for our week together, we got immediately to some tasks at hand.  Half of our group has been here before and the other half has come for the first time.  Genelle and team began work on the sponsorship program called Por Gracia - a way for families... From Easter to El Salvador

Tomorrow is Good Friday, the start of an incredible weekend where we remember, we reflect, and we fall to our knees thanking God for the gift of His Son Jesus.  Jesus who was crucified on Friday, dying on our behalf, only to rise again on Sunday as was forecasted 600 years prior by the prophet Isaiah.  The resurrected Jesus was seen over a period of 40 days by over 500 witnesses before He ascended to heaven.  It's amazing when we consider that God would sacrifice his only Son on...
